That is so irritating and these boys are probably getting the message from one side that bullying and destroying anything that gets in the way is the way to handle life. It's disgusting. I love the rock sign! Here, we have huge signs that call our area "Trump Country." "You are now in Trump country." Oh no they are not. But as much as I dislike that sign I'm not going to tear it down. So far, it's a free country. Let's pray it remains that way.
Those signs you are especially prevalent in a red state like Montana. I'm sorry you have to see them! But honestly, I might as well be in Montana with the number of Trump signs here. Better days are coming. Hang in there!
Amen, sister! One thing that has helped me (and you) is to find your "people" and participate in getting out the vote. We have had "Pearls for Kamala" events and were the largest group in the state to welcome our Senator Jon Tester to a town meeting (there's less than 100 population in this town). We wrote postcards, made buttons, hand out yard signs, and some go door to door and find other ways to help. This has kept us sane in "Trump country."
Even though I am Canadian, I’ve been mesmerized by the US election and the rampant idiocy. Your story Ilona, shines a light on the importance of loving thy neighbour. I’m proud of you and your husband’s tenacity and creativity in expressing your beliefs. Plus your chutzpah for getting out on the canvassing trail is to be applauded. My friends and I are holding our breath that this election falls on the right side of democracy as it will affect not only Americans but people around the world.
~ holding my breath for the good new, your buddy Deborah ♥️🙏
I'm sorry we're such an embarrassing mess down here, Deb. Saving our democracy impacts not only Canada, but the whole world. I look forward to the day when Kamala is elected, and we can sleep well again.
Absolutely! My daughters are also in their child rearing years, and I want them always to have access to proper healthcare. So happy you voted early. We are planning to do the same. Can't wait to cast my vote for Kamala!
Yes, me, too. BUT I would never because as you say, it's their right to put them up, to believe in conspiracy theories, and to support a fascist dictator thinking he will save them. It's funny how libtards saving democracy benefits their right to say whatever they want.
What darling grandsons! And what a darling grandma! I continue to admire what you're doing in this election and how you're sharing it here. Thanks, Ilona, for being an inspiration in so many ways.
If I knew how to use clipboard, I'd send you my husband Mark Rose's post from his Substack Words Words Words today. If you can find it, the post is titled Glory Be, the End is Near. I wouldn't have the guts to do what you do or what Mark does.
No, they have not been identified nor charged. My friend's sign was stolen last night IN BROAD DAYLIGHT, and the neighbor's camera captured them. It was two kids on one bike. My friend will take the photos to the police department his P.M.
You are my heroine! And the rock, well, it rocks, as does your husband.
One of the worrisome things to add to our worries is the group of boys. Where do they get their ideas from? Where do they get the idea that they can steal someone's property in the name of what exactly? Democracy? Trumpism?
Ilona's hubby here (also known as "Mr. Ilona" at her grade-school reunions). I'm sharing a tip on something that I devised to hopefully catch sign thieves. I purchased some personal protection devices at Target (in the travel section). They are about the size of a key fob and contain a chain with a ring on it. When you pull the ring, it emits a loud, piercing alarm, similar to a smoke detector. And it get's louder then longer the pin is out. I rigged one up to a sign on our railing, attaching a thin wire to the ring and a post of the railing (very hard to see). If/when someone yanks the sign off the railing, the hidden alarm (taped and glued to the back of the sign) will sound. It should startle the would-be thieves and cause them to drop the sign. And, hopefully, we'll be home and will hear it and catch them. Since you've read this far down, you get this joke as a reward: Why did the dad take his entire family to KFC for dinner? Because it was on his bucket list!

Be vigilant! Great job. I early voted yesterday and waited 45 minutes but worth it to cast my #harriswalz vote!
The pic of those grandbabies is precious and that’s why we continue being vigilant for our future generation!!

Whenever I see dt signs I truly want to burn them, but I don’t because it’s still their choice. Man, these actions are utterly disgusting.
By the way, your grandchildren are adorable. ☺️

Thanks, Kirie. They are pretty cute, huh? I appreciate your positivity and enthusiasm for my efforts.

No worries, I already subscribe. Just hadn't gotten around to reading it. I just did and left a comment.
Bravo! You and your husband rock.
Love what you did there, Bill!
Lolo! You and hubby are heroic. Did you see the video of the guy caught with 50 signs that are air tagged? Shameless and pathetic.
OMG! I just googled it. I had thought of putting air tags on the signs, but decided against it. I am curious where the signs ended up.
I came here to mention that air tag trick. Not sure if the perpetrators were charged.

I love this! Don't back down! The rock sign is epic!
My husband is going to be so happy to read your comment. That rock is his pride and joy.
Keep up the good work, Ilona!
Love the sign on the rock!! And love those grandbabies!!
Hi Linda! Nice to hear from you. My husband loves painting this rock, but Kamala will stay until Nov. 5th. Fingers crossed!
LOVE the photo of you and your grandkids! Keep up the hard work, Ilona - we've got this!
Thanks! Keep up the faith in Arizona.
Ilona Goanos: Now wait . . . I am pretty sure Polly and the two little boys are the culprits.
Look suspicious to me. Arf, arf! (Response: Two little boys giggling at Polly!)
You are a wonderful person and a blessed woman, glowing with the two beautiful boys.
And the BOYS are lucky to have YOUR love and your husband's love.
THAT is the main thing I take from this column.
That is a LOVING, happy family, complete with Polly and two adored and cuddly kids!
God bless all of you.
The pictures brough cheer to my morning with a solid cup of Joe.
Thanks, Armand. I appreciate your kind sentiment. Polly said 'woof' to you!
You are my heroine! And the rock, well, it rocks, as does your husband.

It is exhausting, and your photo is a joy.

I love your tenacity, Ilona! Stay the course. I stopped reading midsentence at "13 days." Deep breath.
