I like how you turned that into something positive, Angela. I am hearing that insulin resistance is also starting to affect younger people like yourself. My primary doctor is in her early 40s, and she is experiencing insulin resistance as well. In my research, insulin resistance appears 10-15 years before a person is diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. I hope you turn it around, friend.
I have AFib. After 2 cardio version procedures and 2 ablations, the ticker ticks in sinus rhythm. But alcohol was a trigger and I drank plenty before the procedures. I gave up booze and didn't look back.
I recommend to you: instead of munching on cookies, try unsalted nuts, carrots, celery, or fruit.
I had an ablation when I was 40. I was drinking back then, although the ablation cured my problem. The cookies are long gone 🥲 but the problem persists. Thanks for the snack suggestions.
Your keto experiment and the realization about hidden sugars really hit home. I had the same experience on paleo. It's incredible how these sneaky sweeteners infiltrate our diets. It's like playing a game of hide-and-seek with our health! Your story is a powerful reminder to be vigilant label-readers and mindful of portion sizes.
Thanks, Alexander. Yes, it is eye-opening and a clarion to better habits. Plus insulin resistance can lead to dementia, which I have in the back of my mind always, because my mother suffered from that.
Oh shit, you got me! I don't know how long it's been since I had a glass of wine, and I do love me some wine. Italian vino runs through my veins, after all. But what is really challenging is the S-word. Substituting white sugar for maple syrup and coconut sugar is really just a mind game I play. And one kind of sugar or another is in Everything.
I have gone off and come back on sugar so many times I've lost count! Whenever I do go "off," pounds come off and I begin to feel better, then, when I go back "on," everything tastes too sweet but I don't let that stop me and I binge. Yes...I know myself too, and I don't like what I see. I'm not sure what to do about pre-diabetes, Ilona, but I'm going to check the comments this week to see if you got suggestions. I haven't been dx yet but I had it during pregnancy and that makes me a candidate.
I'm surprised by how many people have insulin resistance. I am determined not to get diabetes, so if there's a non-pharmaceutical remedy, I will do it! I already gave up alcohol and sweets. What else is left to take from me?!?!?!?! 🤣🤣🤣
I’m right there with you! Just found out my AC1 is I. The danger zone and I’m making adjustments. How is there sugar in everything?!!!!
One day at a time is right!
And congratulations on every beautiful day you choose yourself!

I so enjoy your writings!
I too have to watch my sugar!
Who knew that watching our sugar would be such a fascinating hobby? LOL. Thanks for supporting my writing, Cathy.

Yes, sugar is in everything and I miss a nice glass of wine, too! Young people need to be vigilant so they don't have the same problems as us.

Right? I hope you find an answer.
