I just listened to your podcast with Mike and then listened to it again with my husband. We don't know Mike over here so it's good to hear that there are people who think the same about Trump as we do. I was beginning to wonder if America had completely lost its marbles as it's hard to see why anyone in their right mind would vote for such a vile man. Well done on getting the interview Ilona, it was interesting to listen to his social media journey too.
Thanks, Lindsey! I appreciate that you took the time to listen on your side of the pond. The majority of us here have our marbles. However there is a loud minority who embrace Trump's vitriol because it affirms and stokes their anger. This group feels America has forgotten them, and MAGA makes them feel empowered.
Mike believes that he won't be voted in, and I'm hopeful as well. The election will nonetheless by a nail-biter. Send some positive energy to us please!
I definitely will. I wasn't interested in American politics at all until the 2016 elections when I became a bit obsessed with the Trump show and spent far too many hours tuning into American TV to watch what was happening , we couldn't believe it when he became President. What really baffles me Ilona is how he can can convicted of sexual assault and all the other scandals and lots of women just seem to turn a blind eye to it and what's more he's still allowed to stand as a candidate. It's a strange world.
He's filled our Supreme Court and court system with his supporters, which has helped him gain advantages in his criminal prosecutions, interpretation of Constitutional Law meaning whether he's allowed to run in an election at all, and in overturning the right to abortion.
The most egregious followers are the Right-Wing Christian Nationalists. I don't know what kind of true Christians would support him, when he is the antithesis of the God they say they worship. This religious viewpoint hurts women profoundly, and yet there are still some women will vote for him.
Most people here support autonomy over their bodies, and abortion. We will hopefully gain democratic control of the House in November, and likewise the presidency. Fingers crossed.
I'm excited to listen to this interview, Ilona. And since I'm not on Tic Toc or X (anymore), I've not known of Mike but now I will search out his podcast. I'm with you...I need encouraging words in this time of Trumpism.
No worries, Mike is on every other platform AND he's always rational and calm. Take some Mike medicine, it will do you some good :) Excited to release our interview together next week.
